This blog, my nattygeeks is in itself a progression. This thing has been growing on the inside of me for years. Ever since I found out what a blog was, I wanted to create one. I wanted to share myself, my views, my testimony. I wanted an outlet. Heck, I needed an outlet for my many and varied thoughts and emotions. Then, something happened. Fear stepped in and doubt took over. “Nobody cares about what I have to say.”, I thought. “You aren’t creative enough. You aren’t smart enough. You aren’t interesting. Nobody will read this.” <— Ouch! My own thoughts were my enemy for years…and I mean YEARS! So what did I do? I pushed this thought, idea, dream…back into the recesses of my mind. I followed blog after blog after blog over the years. I lived vicariously through them, yet… *sigh* I still had my own dream. Have you ever done this to yourself? Can anyone relate? Have an idea and let your own defeatist thinking rip it apart?

Strawberry Filled Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

Thinking about trying this in the coming weeks. Baking is one of my hobbies! 🙂 Be blessed nattygeeks!

I’ve been watching way too much Cupcake Wars lately and have had the cupcake itch for days! What cupcakes to bake?! Was the question. I figured, my favorite cake (vanilla), favorite frosting (cream cheese) and favorite fruit (strawberries) would do the trick to kick all my cupcake cravings!

I started off with the strawberry filling, you will need:

• 2 cups of fresh diced strawberries
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 2 tablespoons of corn starch

Over medium heat, toss in your diced strawberries into a saucepan. Stirring constantly, you’ll notice the strawberries getting softer and forming their own little sauce at the bottom of the pan. Then add the sugar and corn starch, this will immediately cause the sauce to thicken. Stir until everything is blended completely, remove from heat and place strawberry sauce into a heat safe bowl. Set aside to cool.

Heard this on Spotify yesterday and thought it sounded familiar. It’s from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift soundtrack. I’d never heard of Dragon Ash…so…TO WIKIPEDIA!!! I quote, “Dragon Ash (ドラゴンアッシュ Doragon Asshu) are a Japanese rap core group founded in 1996 by Furuya “Kj” Kenji and Sakurai Makoto. They are an icon in Japan and were one of the first groups to popularize hip hop in Japan. They brought a western flavor to Japanese music and helped to turn rap music mainstream, with a mixture of reggae, rap, metal, punk, Spanish, and R&B influences.” Ahhh, Japanese rap you say? I heard this song on the way to work this morning and had to share it. It truly touched my heart. The lyrics talk about being lost in darkness and encountering the beautiful, wondrous light of God. Once you’ve encountered that light, how can you not help but fall in love? How can you not want to let His light shine through you into the darkness?

I absolutely love this message here. Learning to be the light…wow.  I pray this encourages and blesses you nattygeeks. Continue walking in your God given destiny.
